Patty Cowan, MA, LMLP
My goal is to help you experience positive change and a greater sense of personal strength and development. I have a passion for helping individuals increase self-awareness, foster empowerment and encourage positive change. Using a warm, accepting and non-judgmental approach, I will help you navigate through your challenges and uncover your strengths so that you can live a more fulfilling, satisfying life. I value the relationship between the therapist and client and offer a safe and comfortable environment for you to heal and grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I worked in the corporate world prior to becoming a counselor. Every decade seems to bring a faster pace with higher expectations. People need more effective and efficient strategies for managing today’s challenges, whether it’s a lifetime of depression, a recent onset of panic attacks or everyday marriage and parenting concerns. I combine my clinical counseling experience with my business knowledge to offer clients a unique perspective on problem solving. If you are struggling with emotional pain, past hurts, depression, anxiety, grief or other relationship concerns, I would like to provide you with a place to begin to heal.
Psychological tests offer a formal way to measure traits, feelings, beliefs and abilities that can lead to people's problems. Some tests assess the presence of certain conditions, such as depression, anxiety, anger control or susceptibility to stress. Other tests measure general well-being and provide an overall picture of a person's personality. A typical psychological assessment includes an interview with a mental health practitioner and one or more formal psychological tests.
I offer psychological testing for numerous life events including adoption, psychosocial evaluations and bariatric assessments.
Therapy can help you understand your behavior and address the issues you’re having. I will guide you through each step of the process and help you uncover your hidden strengths. I will assist you in understanding how certain triggers affect your behavior and give you the tools to change them. I specialize in helping my clients find their inner strength to lead healthy and satisfying lives. Don’t let anger, stress, anxiety or depression take control of your life.
Getting stuck in our own cycles and patterns is common. When those cycles and patterns begin to impair our day to day functioning it becomes a heavy burden to even get out of bed in the mornings. Through use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy I am able to help you release yourself from the confines of your brain and begin living freely again.
